Ask Us If Abhyanga Is Right For You
Abhyanga
The process begins by gently applying warm herbal oil to the scalp, then spreading it evenly across the entire area. After this, the oil is also applied to the ears, palms, and feet before moving on to the rest of the body. The oil should be rubbed in the same direction as the body hair and towards the heart for most people. However, if someone has an imbalance related to Kapha, the oil should be rubbed in the opposite direction of the hair. In the case of Pitta issues, the strokes should be alternated—sometimes in the direction of the hair, sometimes against it.
